Most men who get genital HPV do not have any symptoms. However, some types of HPV can cause genital warts. Certain types of HPV have been linked to cancer of the anus and penis in men. These cancers are rare –especially in men with healthy immune systems. The types of HPV that can cause genital warts are not the same as the types that can cause penile or anal cancer.

In general, HPV will not shorten your lifespan if you're otherwise healthy and do not develop cancer.

ha when it comes to hpv the guys have it easier! they dont' have to worry about cervical cancer later. they haven't really figured out if men get any type of cancer if they have hpv. some males only get warts. some have hpv and don't get anythign sign or symptom. ur gf will have a colposcopy and a biopsy. tell her not to worry about it. it's scary but it only takes 15 mins. she'll only feel a slight pinch and that's the local injection that they give. the dr will scrape off some cells and will determine if they are cancerous or not. more than likely she does have hpv. if the cells come out fine then she will probabl have to go back for a pap smear in 3 months and if that is well then they will see her every 6 mos or a yr maybe. depending on how each test comes out. if they are cancerous then the next steps will be taken. so for now u will be healthy

Okay the girl above is totally wrong.

HPV can and does affect guys. It might not be deadly like HPV can be to girls but guys can have health problems because of it.

Guys can develop genital warts, hand and feet warts. They can also develop penile and rectal cancer although it is more rare and develops usually at a much older age. (We're talking like 50 years old and older).

There is no test for men, so you might even have it now (since it sounds like your girlfriend does). It can take months, even years to see any symptoms.

Check out these sites, they have a good description of the virus.

I can gurantee it will not kill you. If it will effect any one in a bad way it would be your girlfriend. If anything you may never show symptoms, if you do it will come in the form of genital warts. Check this website out it should help.

its not as harmful to men as much as it is to women, it can put you at slight risk for cancer but the risk isnt nearly as high for women who have HPV. all that men usually get are warts if they have any symptoms at all.

you could pass it on to your next gf though if you break up with her
