Yes, I have OSA. I've had 4 or 5 tests in the last yr 1/2. I'm finally set on 12 which is working better. I fell asleep while driving a few times. That's when I realized something was wrong! I have found cute little covers for the headstrap and tube at a certain website--don't know if I can mention it--dressupsbybrenda.net. I got several of them. and they're cheap.

The most common kind of sleep apnea is called Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome. Sleep apnea means "cessation of breath." It is characterized by repetitive episodes of upper airway obstruction that occur during sleep, usually associated with a reduction in blood oxygen saturation. In other words, the airway becomes obstructed at several possible sites. The upper airway can be obstructed by excess tissue in the airway, large tonsils, a large tongue and usually includes the airway muscles relaxing and collapsing when asleep. Another site of obstruction can be the nasal passages. Sometimes the structure of the jaw and airway can be a factor in sleep apnea.

My husband has had it for a number of years. It disrupts both his and my sleep. He is always tired. He refuses treatment. If you have high blood pressure, sleep apnea can make the blood pressure "spike" or go up very high. This can lead to strokes. Sleep apnea is not to be ignored. Seek treatment.

I have sleep apnea. I am about to be fitted for my CPAP. I did the test and it wasn't so bad.
