A 10 year old boy, had eaten pineapple about 15 days back, and fell
sick, from the day he had eaten. Later when he had his health check done...
doctors diagnosed that he had AIDS. His parents couldn't believe it...
> Then the entire family under went a check - up... none of them suffered
from AIDS. So the doctors checked again with the boy if he had eaten
out...The boy said "yes". He had pineapple that evening. Immediately a
group from Mallya
> hospital went to the pineapple vendor to check.
> They found the pineapple seller had a cut on his finger while cutting the
pineapple , his blood had spread into the fruit. When they had his blood
checked...the guy was suffering from AIDS .....but he himself was NOT
aware. Unfortunately the boy is suffering from it now.
> Please take care while u eat on the road side. and pls fwd this mail to
your dear ones.

The pineapple is purely irrelevant. It could well have been mangoes or guavas or melons. What's important is the transfer of blood from the vendor to the boy and then possibly infection via a cut , perhaps on the boy's lips or in his mouth.
I would say it's entirely plausible and for those people who don't think so - would you eat a blood-tainted piece of fruit from the same vendor? I think not!!

sounds like an urban legend about AIDS. but seriously i mean was the pineapple smothered in blood or was there just a drop of it. and was the pineapple freshly sliced. i means aids virus cannot live outside the body very long. pineapple is very acidic so it might killed the HIV virus although this has not been proven yet.

I don't believe it is true either as the AIDS virus or HIV virus needs to be transferred as a living organism. If that story is true it most likely will be some bizairre twist of fate and not worth worrying about anyway.

Well from the story I guess it's possible, but extremely rare! You can only contract AIDS from infected bodily fluids. But still... on a pineapple. Goodness.

You don't "catch" AIDS. You become infected with HIV, which can eventually develop into AIDS years or decades later.
The whole story is made up. Obviously.

if the story is true then the pineapple didn't give the kid AIDS, it was the guy that cut the pineapple.

That's ridiculous. The HIV virus cannot live outside the body. Even if the guy had bleed into the child's mouth, it wouldn't give him HIV unless it got into his bloodstream.
