I couldn't agree with you more. I do believe that there should be anti-smoking ads because...let's face it, smoking is very dangerous. However, so is food. McDonalds alone can wipe out the population. People are comfortable trying to control smokers because smoking is a completely unnecessary, unnatural activity. Eating, however, is normal and natural. Who is to say what is too much and what is wrong? There is a growing trend against Trans-Fats, hydrogenated oils...That's a start...

Smoking, along with potato chips, is a major factor in some heart disease. Quitting smoking will provide far greater health benefits than losing weight, if both are a problem for an individual.
If you don't smoke, of course, maybe you should cut back on the chips.

Only if it could be pinned down that potato chips are the major factor in heart disease then sure there should be, but the factors for heart disease are multiple sources, where lung cancer is caused by the product that the very wealthy tobacco companies and the gaggle of lawsuits won that fund the anti-smoking campaigns.

I am old enough to remember the tobacco companies advertising in such a way that a person would believe that smoking was actually good for you ,it was made to look like smoking made you sexy etc. ha ha.One advertisement that went worldwide was for Marlboro cigarettes the guy shown in the advertisement died of lung cancer .
take a look at the website below to see the lies that were once used by the tobacco companies.I hope more of them get lawsuits that cost them billions in damages but it will not make up for the death and suffering they have caused to millions of people

I'm happy to have the non smoking, I hate to go in anywhere to eat and the place be stinking like smoke, and in gas stations where babies go in that smoke is harsh for a infants lungs, some people just don't get. Ciggs kill and more than chips do and they put it right on the lable, and i don't recall a dorito bag saying eating this product may cause heart disease. So there's your answer

Yep, I would say it was one of the primary factors that made me start smoking. They kept the issue in my mind so that I could keep thinking about it. It wasn't the only factor, but it was certainly a big one. I remember one anti-smoking commercial in particular that showed a really sweet girl smoking her first cigarette. I think the intention was that you were supposed to be shocked that this sweet thing would start smoking. She was an extremely pretty and sweet girl, and the cigarette was supposed to look so out of character. God, I was in love with that girl, and I fantasized about sneaking off with her to have a cigarette.

The tobacco companies have paid a lot of money in fines for lying about cigarettes and health problems and that money had to be used for education and anti-smoking adds. Smoking contributes directly to heart disease and exacerbates many other diseases.

Most of the anti smoking ads are actually put out by the tobacco companies, they are smoke screens for all the lawsuits that are filed against them.
