The venue will be dance hall that is connected to a bar, and the guests to this party will have to give the correct password (speakeasy style) to gain entry. I was thinking of something that references the Great Gatsby or the roaring 20s in general.

how about a barbie theme? The guys might not appreciate it too much at first but they will once they realize that a barbie theme means a room full of blonde bimbos with oversized boobs in tight clothes. And what girl doesn't love barbies?

The Great Gatsby is one of my favorite books. Hopefully everyone you are inviting have read it.
How about Daisy? One of the main characters in the book. Gatsby couldn't get her out of his head. Or Rockefeller (big time name during that time).
