We usually only have either a propane burner (backpacking) or our 2-burner camping stove (car camping). For a group, we like to either:
* Use the stove/burner to make speghetti. Since you'll be driving, you can have prepared jugs/jars, but you can also have the dried packets and tomato paste.
*Chili (canned or homemade) or stew
* Since you have ovens (never heard of that!), you can use frozen lasagna from Costco, or taquitos

or on a firepit:
* corn on the cob
* marinated beef (carne asada) or chicken legs (bbq) with corn tortillas (warm them on the stove or pit first)
* baked potatoes (wrap in foil and put in or on the fire)

or go fishing nearby and fry up what you catch.

For breakfast, cold or hot cereal is easy and cheap. Bacon and scrambled eggs fry up pretty fast too.

For lunch, pack sandwiches. Or, canned stuff like speghetti-oh's.

There are endless possibilities on a tight budget, tight space, and limited weight and means. Have fun!

You can't beat hamburgers on the grill..I make them juicier and more flavor-full by adding salt and pepper and Worcester sauce in the raw meat..you get less shrinkage and more flavor and juiciness..take potatoes (bakers) slice them (not all the way through) and between each slice add a piece of onion and a little butter or margarine..salt and pepper..wrap in foil then bake in the coals..Prepare Macaroni salad yourself because it is much cheaper than buying in the deli..I have a great recipe for a pasta salad that is cheap and easy to make that is portable..

1 medium box of spaghetti (cooked and cooled) Pour a little oil over the pasta after cooked so it doesn't stick to itself
1 large bottle of Italian dressing
3 large tomatoes (diced)
4 green onions cleaned and diced (greens and all)
l large cucumber diced (peel)
l large green pepper (cleaned and diced)

Put the chopped vegetables in the pasta, add the dressing, salt and pepper to taste and set over night..add a little extra dressing just before serving..very refreshing and will make you shine..goes along way with hungry folks..better the next day..

Potatoes baked in foil ( can be cooked in the coals.)

Beans

Corn on the cob ( baked in foil with lots of butter, salt and pepper ) Can be cooked in the coals at the fire pit too.

Fish ( wrap in foil with butter, onion slices, salt and pepper.)

Potatoe, Onion and Carrot Bake
Slice raw potatoes, onions and carrots thinly. Coat foil on one side with butter and layer the vegetables with a little butter between each layer. Do a couple of layers like this and seal the foil well. Throw on the coals and turn packets a couple of times.
Really delicious!

Shiskabobs
Make meat balls and place on skewers with mushrooms, peppers, pineapple, Onion wedges or whatever else you want. You can either marinate them before cooking or brush with barbecue sauce.

Macaroni and cheese

Spaghetti

Hamburgers, hotdogs and smokies

Boiled eggs for breakfast , sandwiches, devilled eggs etc.

Pancakes ( you can use the batter to make a sort of bannock out it too )

give the people a home-maid stick with a pointy end and whatever they kill, they can eat. all it takes is some time. all you need to do is find 12 strong sticks, and whittle at the end untell its pointy.
