Gelatin is made from animal bones. From what I have heard, there are some vegetarians that do eat gelatin. Something about the intense process of it and not considering it to be "meat". I'm a vegetarian, and will not eat gelatin.

I won't eat gelatin or use products with gelatin in it (such as nail polish remover).

I know some food coloring (red dye #2) is made from bugs and I try to avoid these, but sometimes, you just can't.

You got your facts wrong. Now a days gelatin is made out of seaweed and food coloring is of vegetable origin.

it depends... there's a gelatin called carrageenan and they're ok but there's a gelatin from something inside of a cow and that's not ok... food coloring is okay...

gelatin in products in the usa are usually not of beef. but the usda does not make companies name the sources. most of the time it is pork derived. if it is kosher, it is beef. some other posters put on here that its from fish....INCORRECT. try sending an email to these companies and see what you are told. i have had a response , about skittles, pop tarts, and frosted mini wheats cereal. all of those are from beef. also an email from kellogs about marshmallow treats.......and those are from pork.

There is Kosher gelatin and it is made of fish bones not cow bones.

So, if it says that it is Kosher then they might.

Geletin actually comes from the bones, skins, and tendons, and no self respecting vegetarian would eat it, even the lacto-Ovo's, as for food coloring that hasn't been proved.

ok? what does that mean? we are humans, we rule the earth, we eat anything here that can be fried, sauteed, sliced, diced, deep fried, slow basted, barbequed or otherwise. next question... of course it's ok.
