Yes it would be hypocritical to say that killing an animal for food is any different than killing it for clothing. I am not a vegetarian and I wear leather. However, I would not wear seal fur and I do not eat veal. I am against cruelty to animals but raising animals for human consumption is not cruelty as long as they have adequate provisions and are killed with consideration for their suffering. But I respect those who have made the choice to be vegetarian for this reason. Also, remember there's no room for jello ;-)

I have to agree on several points with LARRY J7. There are many people who become vegetarian based on their animal rights beliefs. These folks should not wear animal products, otherwise they are hypocritical of thier convictions.
There are many reasons for becoming vegetarian: religion, health, because momma said so, etc. For these people, the wearing of animals skins may or may not be an issue, and therefore not hypocritical if they do.

There is a distinct difference between a vegetarian and an animal rights activist-----now if a person is saying they are a vegetarian because they are an animal rights activist and wears fur--or even uses leather products they do run the risk of loosing their credibility ----but simply being a vegetarian is what it is --a person who has limited their diet to vegetables alone

A big NO! Being vegan means protecting meat giving animals. Not eating or destroying these God given creatures!
Wearing the fur is so contradicting!

I'd say it is absolutely hypocritical, not to mention ridiculous, to be a vegetarian and wear fur. I'm a vegetarian, and I won't even wear leather shoes, let alone FUR. Unbelievable.

Yes, these people are absolutely hypocrites. But, there are many veggies that don't eat meat for other reasons.

No, nor leather. As PETA states, "they [animals] are not ours to use—for food, clothing, entertainment, experimentation, or any other reason". Take Care :)
