chicken idea. You can get a bag of frozen boneless skinless chicken and in a gallon freezer bag put the following 1 bottle of soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of diced garlic, 1 cup of sugar, 1 tablespoon of ginger, 1/2 cup of sesame seeds, 2 bunches of scallion chopped, and 1 cup of oil. cube your chicken and add to marinated on friday for a sunday cookout. flipping the bag a few times a day. Then get some peppers, cherry tomatoe and do shiska bobs they go further. We did this last month and had about 40 skiska bobs.. and they loved the chicken I also use beef cubed up with same marinated different bag...

Since it is a small crowd, do a little of everything! Make kabobs from chicken and beef, mixed w/ boiled potato and pepper chunks (this will strech out the amount of meat needed). Throw some hot dogs on, along w/ some good beef sausage or bratswursts. Have a big mess of salad fixings and bread for fillers. For desert, get a couple half gallons of ice cream and an assortment of toppings for build you own sundes, or layer sliced angel food cake w/ frozen mixed berries (w/ sugar), vanilla pudding and cool whip (mix the prepared pudding and cool whip together).

Bratwursts are a bit more grown up that hot dogs and not too expensive.
Chicken is also pretty cheap, last I checked.
Grill veggie kabobs w/ hunks of zucc, yellow squahs, onion, BP, and shrooms.
You can also grill fruit for dessert. Sprinkle halved peaches, plums, or nectarines w/ granulated sugar on cut sides, then put sugar-side down on a hot grill. Turn once. No more than 5 min. is needed to caramelize the sugar and get a great flavor. Serve w/ vanilla ice cream!

You're always safe sticking to the basics: Hamburgers, Hot Dogs and BBQ chicken. If you want to try something a little more advanced try steaks or baby back ribs! For a simple side, get a box of Lipton Onion Soup mix and make the roasted potatoes recipe on it! It's always been a hit with my BBQs! And to make everything else easier on you, ask everyone to bring a favorite side dish or dessert, so if push comes to shove, at least everyone will have something they like!

The best is Down South food. Like ribs, bbq grilled chicken, pork n beans, corn, collard greens, corn bread, potatoe salad, macaronie salad, just plain salad.... and you could go on forever. But you can't go wrong with that food with anybody that i know of. just ask anybody from new orleans, lousiana, georgia, even florida. they are know for the biggest cookouts.

first use real charcoal, good fresh hamburger with a half teaspoon of dried onion flakes in the middle . about inch thich but big enough to hang over the edge of the bun.dont cover up the great taste with a lot of condiments.just ketchup & mustard will do.nice egg buns are allways a treat to compliment your burger.

I would go with the chicken. Its inexpensive and you can get it already marinated for even more ease. And everything goes with chicken and almost everyone likes it too!
