My birthday is in August, and every-year instead of a birthday party I have a back-to-school party with my class. Well, this year I want it to be special because we're going to 7th grade, at our school that's high school. But I live in Biloxi and because of the hurricane I'm stuck on a $400 budget. How do i have the BEST back to school party ever on that budget?

I think that it is great that you want to keep your tradition going, even though everything around you is crazy! (I live in central MS)

Keep the food simple - check out the frozen snacks at Wal-Mart, plus go w/ chips, veggies, fruits and dips. Be sure to have a ton of cold drinks and water, too. Or maybe make it a potluck of sorts - that way it will take some of the food burden off of you.

If possible, have the party at night, set up out side. String up Christmas lights and balloons and crank the music up! If someone has a karaoke machine, that would make it even better!

Since ya'll are going into high school, be sure to video EVERYTHING so it can be shown at the party you have to kick off your Senior Year. You could even set up a table w/ paper, markers and envelopes for everyone to write down their favorite stuff, etc. then seal them up and save for senior year, too.

i'm going into high school too (9th grade) -- and my birthday is in august also - the 27th.....here's what you do...

you invite a lot of people, make your own cd's and play them on your stereo and just order pizza and put out snacks, it might not even be 400!!
good luck
