I'm a chef and It's wonderful cooking for women. They love great food and nice looking plates. I have found Italian food with some nice wine to be a winner when preparing a candlelight dinner for a woman. Ladies what kind of food would you want a man to prepare for you and what kind of dessert.

I usually prepare the romantic dinners since I love to cook and am creative, but if I had a man who could do it for me I'd like a nice light salad (tomatoes, shaved zucchini, balsamic vinegar and a touch of feta or Parmesan cheese); anything seafood, especially large shrimp sauteed in white wine and garlic with a side of linguine with a sauce made from the shrimp drippings (please, not thick and NO cheese). For dessert, I'd love a tiramiso or anything with a combination of dark chocolate and raspberry, but only a taste; I don't want to be too full or sick at the end of the night because I would want to "reward" my chef!!!!!

I love a baked chicken breast with asparagus and broccoli as side dishes. Maybe a nice little salad tossed with vinegarette or Italian dressing (not too heavy on the garlic for obvious reasons). I don't eat dessert. I really don't eat appetizers unless I haven't eaten all day. On my naughty days the chicken would be baked with barbecue sauce on it. Anyway, back to dessert. If I have enough room after that scrumptious dinner, I would probably say sorbet or frozen yogurt. Again on naughty days it would be an ice cream sundae. I only have one naughty day a month. i can't help it sometimes lol. BTW, I'm a chef too. So most of the time, I do the cooking.

My husband will make pan seared Herb encrusted Halibut, seared scallops wrapped in prosciutto, asparagus, garlic mash potatoes and nice wine, and since I do the baking.....I take care of the desserts. For those weight watching females that just want a taste.....Take a spoon, put a little raspberry sauce on the spoon, then mold some flour less chocolate cake in a smooth mound over the spoon. Dip the spoon in a melted dark chocolate and let harden. You can drizzle with a little extra raspberry sauce before serving. It's perfect for that after dinner chocolate without pushing you into the "oh I ate too much" category.

I would like a dinner where I don't have to work! So no seafood like crab or shrimp, and no food that is overpowering with too much garlic or onions.

Italian is nice but it can be messy with sauces, etc.
I prefer someting really easy like japanese. The food is cut up bite size and you know it has to be fresh. Enjoy the sushi or the cooked food like tempera or teriyaki steak strips with some wine or sake, or even a nice smooth japanese beer and its a great meal, and light too.

For dessert, a light mousse topped with fresh strawberries is always a good one for me.

Well, Italian is good. But, since a lot of women watch their weight I would suggest something baked or grilled...fish, chicken, veggies, a salad. For dessert, sorbet with fresh berries..or cheesecake.
