HPV is the Human papillomavirus.

So many women are infected with it because of men giving it to them. There is no test for men and HPV doesn't really have any signs or symptoms. That's why men pass it to women usually unaware that they even have it. The only way women even find out is usually by having an abnormal pap smear come back or by developing genital warts.

There are at least 100 different kinds of HPV and most don't do anything. Some kinds though develop into genital warts, cervical cancer, hand and feet warts, penile cancer and rectal cancer. The most common however are genital warts and cervical cancer. Cervical cancer kills 300,000 women a year! That is why they are so concerned with women having HPV. I have had both genital warts and cervical cancer and have been treated for both.

Hope that answered your question!

HPV is Human Papillomavirus. It has several strains and until recently there was no way to treat it beyond treating the symptoms that made it apparent (warts, pre-cancerous leasions on the cervix, etc). Very recently (within the last month) the FDA has approved a vaccine to combat this disease - it is tremendously wide-spread and can be carried by both men and women.
Contrary to popular belief (RUSS), it is not a "skank" disease. It is the virus that causes genital warts but more importantly, it is a virus that can and does cause cervical & uterine cancers. That is why the PAP smear test is the most important test a woman have done annually.

HPV means Human Papilloma Virus. This is a family of viruses several of which are transmitted sexually and can infect the cervix (part of the uterus that extends into the vagina). Once infected there is a real risk of developing cancer of the cervix. It is the sexual transmission that accounts for the widespread distribution of the virus. You may have heard that a vaccine has recently been approved that will prevent infection by the most common forms of the virus and it is expected to reduce the occurrence of cervical cancer.

HPV is the virus that causes cervical cancer. I think 1 out of every 5 women is affected with it and probably because there are no noticeable symptoms until it is too late.

It is Human Pappiloma Virus. There are over 100 varieties. It causes gentital warts, which on men are harmless, but for women gentital warts can migrate to the cervix and eventually cause cervical cancer. There is an epidemic because people aren't using condoms, and don't recognize warts as a threat.

Human Papaloma Virus...or something like that.

It's a common disease/illness that is easy to get over...the problem with it is that it can damage you so that you could develope cancer.
