Same way as meat eaters do. My sister is Vegan, and she works out at the gym at least 5 times a week. As long as you continue to eat a healthy, balanced diet, you'll be fine. Most vegetables contain the same minerals as meats, like protien and iron. As with all excercise, your muscles aren't going to develop over night, and dont forget that Muscle is heavier than Fat, so don't panic if you start to "gain wieght" just keep going, you'll start to notice a difference, usually after about a month or so.

Well I LOVE MUSCELS and technically muscels aren't exactly living, I mean veggeterians eat plants and plants where living too ya know. U also need protein try to eat a lot of soy and tofu stuff. Also make sure you eat penut butter for protein too. Pb&J ain't soo bad. And you eat cheese so thats good too. You can get recipes for Mussels w/ cheese so you wouldn't feel so guilty about eating mussels. And if you realy want to eat seafood it's your choice and Nobody can tell you wht to eat SHOOT I thought you where talking about the FOOD MUSCELS YOU SHOULD BE MORE SPECIFIC

The best way to increase your muscular mass is by working out and making sure to exercise regularly. Second to that, you need to eat proteins, and a good source of protein can be found in nuts, beans, lentil and seeds. Further, they are low in calories and their natural fats are good for you. So you won't be working out to burn off those extra calories, all your efforts will go towards helping you achieve the body you dream about! Good luck!

Do you eat eggs? Milk? You could drink protien shakes mixed with egg yokes to up your protien intake. Protien shakes don't have to have animal extracts in them, many have seaweed and whey (milk) in them.

Interesting note: When Hilary Swank, a lifetime vegetarian, was preparing for Million Dollar Baby she ended up having to eat meat. At first she tried eggs, but that didn't get enough bulk onto her. So she ended up drinking a meat shake every two hours. Had to wake up in the middle of the night to drink it. Twice. Every night.

Another diet I heard about was the milk, rice, potato, and banana diet for wrestlers. These foods will put extra weight on you....but if you don't lift weights in rotations EVERY DAY you'll just end up getting fat. Protien is good but you also need carbs. Protein is not so crucial to human life as people want to believe. Running is a good way to stay lean while you're bulking up, and for running, again, you need to eat carbs!

So I have a question for you...is it worth it? Why not just work on making your body, as it comes naturally to you, the best it can possibly be? Do you want to be so consumed with your physical appearance that you have to do extreme things? And do you really want to be involved with people who are only attracted to the "extreme" you?

Stop being a vegetarian. There are no vegetarian bodybuilders. Anyone who has a muscular body and claims to be a vegetarian became one AFTER getting the muscular body. Gotta have protein to build muscle. Gotta have meat. Soybeans ain't gonna do it for ya, buddy.
