Is it just me being a schizo or do I really have something to worry about? My asshole boyfriend put me through hell and I gave in and slept with a friend while doing my weekends at an air force base. Before doing anything I had just done my annual physical when they said I had HIV. Turned out it was a false positive. They did another blood test stictly for AIDS and again, negative. Here I am a year later, I stopped talking to the two of them and trying to get on my feet. I think I am so nervous because I am about to start this new job that is more demanding than any other job I have had. However, I think I keep looking for stuff to worry about. All of a suddn, my annual physical is coming up again and I am terrified that if I come out positve for something, it may really be positve result. Am i just stressing due to the scare I had last year, or can I really be positve from last time. I know hiv takes a while to show up but I never had the incubation period( those flu like symptoms). I

False positive are common among HIV test and your body chemistry may bring up another false positve.

I doubt you have anything to worry about but your stress is real, I freak out when the cholestarol levels are slighty high this is HIV/AIDS of course paranoia is required.

You are not being paranoid. HIV infections can have a very VERY long latent period -- 10 years is not unusual, apparently. During this latent period, certain HIV tests, notably quick tests, have a distressingly high false NEGATIVE rate.

I'll be frank here: HIV infection sucks eggs. But it is not the end of the world. If you would like to talk about it (I'm quite well informed about HIV; it's a fascinating virus) feel free to contact me privately. I promise I will not be judgemental.

Well obviously it's a possibility. The only way to know is to get tested. Why are you blaming other people for what you've done? You gave in to what exactly to cheat on your boyfriend? Regardless, knowing is a lot better than living in the dark.

i think you should cross each bridge as you get to it. if you spend all your time worrying about tomorrow, you'll never enjoy today. please remember, tomorrow isn't a guarantee. you could walk out of that physical and get git by a runaway bus. if it comes up positive again, persue it with the same due vigilance. but again, cross that bridge when/if you come to it.

you can't cross the golden gate bridge (ca), while you're still on the george washington bridge (ny).
just take it one day at a time, and you'll be fine

btw, if i can't help you, please talk to "poorcocoboiboi" he/she makes alot of sense and may be able to gife you enough info to ease your mind.
