I'd say 50/50 my Bestfriend thought she was pregnant with Kylie Rose, I helped paint the room pink etc. Well lets just we have Kyle Scott and had to repaint the entire room lol. I'd say nothing is full proof until he/she is delivered.

Yes, ultrasounds and even more intrusive forms of trying to detect the sex of a baby can be incorrect. I worked for a doctor who's wife had the amniotic test come back 100% positive it's a a boy... well, the baby delivered, and it was 100% girl!!! They were shocked, because they had spent a lot of money painting and decorating the nursery for a boy, purchased clothing for a boy and the whole 9 yards.
I understand your concerns. Baby clothing and decorating a room for a new baby can get expensive. Wait a little longer before purchasing clothing or decorating. Another avenue would be to purchase and decorate so that either sex could wear the clothing or have the nursery. Yellows and greens are good colors for either sex.
Good luck!!

I had a friend who was told with 96% certainty that it was a girl. She had two ultrasounds and both came up the same - it's a girl. When she actually gave birth, out came a boy.
Usually they look for three lines for a girl (hot dog bun) and a turtle shape for a boy.
Maybe instead of doing pinks, go with yellows and light greens? That would work for either sex in the nursery. You might also ask your doc if you will get another ultrasound in your 3rd trimester. Many do it now just to double check the fluid levels, growth and placenta.
Good luck, I hope you have a healthy and happy pregnancy.

Wishful thinking or fear of having a boy? Heh...no matter. I actually think that amniocentesis is 99.9% correct (told to me by my amnio doctor). Sometimes kids can be born a girl but have boy brains and vice versa..I wonder what the amnio would make of that?
Anyhow...ultrasounds can be wrong and often are. Personally with each child, I had, I just knew even before the tests because I could only think of only girl names or boy names at the time (I've had 3 children) and I was right each time.
If you are just worried about what to buy.....get unisex stuff until after the birth. Babies dont give a hoot what they are in and you dont actually need any defining colour scheme right away...hold off on the baby room scheme or make it white and add accessories later. Babies also grow out of clothes within a month or less....so limit yourself because you will always be buying more and more stuff as they get bigger.

The answer to your first question..."Has ultrasound ever been wrong?"...and my answer is yes. I have had, well, actaully my wife has had, five daughters and not one boy. Ultrasound is only useful for verifing the sex of the child sometime during the last trimester...and never before. They can "guess" in this matter of course...but that is all that it is...a "guess". During two of my wifes' pregnancies we were told by the results of ultrasound that the child in her womb was without a doubt a "boy"...because they could "swear" that they could detect "his" little ding-ding...if you get my drift...and lo and behold...out came a little girl. To remain on the safe side of things...and this is my advice...never trust ultrasound results because they're highly inaccurate. Sure, you can make-out the arms and legs and head and even fingers and toes...but if it's a "boy"...they have already learned how to hide and deceive the looker-to-be. But ultrasound has also been correct in many cases so just remember this: always buy things in yellow...just in case...and that way you can't fail and you find yourself dressing your newborn girl in bold blues that were made tof a boy. Take care of yourself dear woman...you will not believe how many changes that little wonder will bring into your life!!

It's not an exact science! Yes they are wrong occasionally but more off ten not. I just new i was having a boy and they said a girl at 17.6 weeks and they were right. Don't rush out yet and buy anything, wait until you have another ultrasound, you didn't mention how far along you are? Good luck just be happy your baby's healthy, I lost my baby 1 1/2 weeks after they told me it was a girl at 20 weeks umbilical cord accident(wrapped around her neck 3 times) but yes they can be wrong especially in early pregnancy

The ultrasound is never wrong but the person read it may be. Hear is a trick that has been used by a doctor that always had Guss the sex of a baby right for his whole career. he would tell the soon to be parents one sex and right down the other on the chart. if what he said was right there was no problem, if he was wrong he would point to the chart and look surprises and apologies that they must of mis herd him since he was so sure that he wright it down. hence ever body thought he was always right in know what sex the child would be.

Yes it can. It is usually harder to tell if it's a girl.
A friend of mine was told she was having a boy and she and her husband bought all denim stuff for the baby and as it turns out she ended up having a girl instead....they were completely shocked.
Alot of times during an ultrasound, the umbilical cord tends to get in the way, so depending on how the baby is positioned, the umbilical cord can give a false boy prediction. That is what happened to her.
I would play it safe and go with a neutral theme in the nursery and get all yellow and mint green baby clothes....they are neutral colors.
good luck :)

I think that everything has a chance, I think if they say its a boy, it probably is, they saw the peanut, but if they say its a girl, they didn't see something when they thought they should, but they may have just missed it. My friend had twins and was told one was a boy, the other a girl, then they saw both peanuts a few ultrasounds later. She had told me she thought they were both boys, but I didn't want to buy pink in case she was right, so I stuck to greens and yellows, colors that scream I'm a boy or girl, even after they saw both peanuts.

If you were told you're having a girl, you are most likely having a girl. Ultrasounds can be wrong, but they are most often wrong when predicting little boys for some reason. Go buy some pink, little sister!!

Yes they can be wrong in naming the sex through an ultrasound. Luckily this did not happen to me, but I do know people it has happened to. Any type of shadow can give the false impression on the image. The only guarantee is amneosantesis ( sp? ) , but it can be a risky procedure for both you and the baby, so I would never choose that just to know the sex of the baby.
