This depends greatly on what type of diabetes u have and how severe it is. Type 1 diabetes or juvinial diabetes cannot be controlled with out the use of injectable insulin. In this type of diabetes the islets of langerhorn in the pancreas do not produce the insulin neccessary for cells to metabolise food. Without this, the body will actually start to produce acids that eat the person's own fat cells. This produces a state of ketoacidosis. eventually the body will become so ill used and dehydrated that kidney falure and even coma can occur. Very serious stuff! The type 1 diabetic must take insulin to replace the stuff that their body cannot make on its own. Diet and exercise are also very important here.
Type 2 diabetes (often referred to as adult onset diabetes) can ofetn be controlled with diet and exercise. Type two dibetes is often caused from th body not being able to effectively use its own insulin. There are oral meds that can be taken to help the body do this if diet and exercise are not enough. Sometimes the condition is so bad that type 2 diabetics may have to use injectable insulin for awhile.
If you are diabetic I recommend finding out all you can about your disease. Knowlege is the best tool you can have at your disposal. It is important to learn how to evaluate your food and you caloric expendature if you are to stay healthy. You need to find a good doctor (called an endocrinologist) to help you decide what your treatment plan should be. After you familiarise yourself with the disease it is possible to self evaluate yourself most of the time under only the occasional advice of your physician. But do not do this until you know what you are doing. Diabetes can take a great toll later on in life if you don't take care of yourself. Kidney failure, limb amputation, blindness and neuropathy are just a few things to fear in a diabetic's future.

That all depends on your kind of diabetes you have. Do you have high sugar or low sugar? If you have high sugar normally, with the proper diet and exercise you don't have to use any medications. But watch carefully. Too much rigorous exercise can lower your sugar at dangerous levels. Always keep some kind of hard candy with you when you exercise. If your sugar goes way down in the 60's or lower, the best thing to intake, is not orange juice with sugar (that only makes your sugar peak and crash causing other bad things to happen). You should intake a glass of whole milk. This will raise your sugar and maintain your sugar level.
If you have low sugar levels to begin with, you really shouldn't exercise too much. By exercising you can force your sugar level to go way down too fast and cause you to become unconscious. To raise your low sugar level, drink a glass of whole milk. This too will raise it some and help your sugar to level out a little bit.
If you are unsure which kind of diabetes you have or not, see your family physician about it. He or she will be able to guide you in the right direction. It is always good to see your doctor often, so he or she can monitor your sugar at least once every 6 months or less. Ask your doctor what kinds of foods you can eat and what types of exercise you can do first. Your doctor will be able to point you into the right direction with that as well.

yes, why not. my uncle was suffering from diabitics and then he started doing yoga which is an indian meathod of giving relaxaation to the body by performing different postures.also he use to lightly press the place between the root of ring finger and index finger of right hand and right leg . this is accupressure cure of diabetiess and the sugarr level will be reduced 100% below harmfull level. along with these the should control his diet.

having type 1 diabetes since i was 9 i think i can answer this accurately. there is ways you can reduce the levels simply by exercising and watching your diet although if you have type 1 or have severe type 2 you must take medicine in order to keep them low enough at a healthy level

If you are a type 2 or adult onset diabetic then yes. Exercise and a low carb diet. However, if your diabetes is out of control you will need to get on the medicine to get it under control and then with weight loss and exercise and under your doctors advise you may be able to control it with diet. If you have type 1 or juvenile diabetes then no you will be insulin dependant.

Some Diabetics are able to control their glucose through diet and exercise and careful monitoring of their glucose levels. If one is overweight when they are diagnosed, it is said that if one loses 10% of their body weight, they may be able to better control their glucose. There has been many studies done on the connection between exercise and glucose control, which shows that regular healthy exercise can reduce one's blood sugar.

yes it is possible to reduce the increased blood sugar levels without medicine also, it depends upon the severity & duration of the disease. it can be done by adopting ceriain lifestyle modifications such as exercise(walk or yoga) & dietary modifications.

It depends on the type of diabetes you have.
In type-1 (aka Insulin dependent diabetis mellitus) reducing consumption of sugar is always advisable, but in type-2 (aka non-insulin dependent diabetis mellitus) controlling sugar consumption is of vital importance. You just need to know which type of diabetis you've got. DON'T TAKE EVERYTHING WE TELL YOU HERE BECAUSE WE DON'T KNOW YOUR SPECIFIC TYPE. Consult your GP or physician who will give you very relevant advices based on the specific diagnosis he cincluded.

After surviving cancer my daughter got diabetes. She eliminated sugar and wheat from her diet for nearly six months and is now clear. Talk to your doctor before you do anything so drastic. Eliminating refined products can be good and bad. She now eats some sugars but can not touch anything that contains wheat or grains. It was worth it for her but like I said talk to your doctor first, this is very difficult to do!
