Lack of sex education, and also it was denied in many countries that HIV virus led to AIDS. Using a condom is often though to be showing a lack of masculinity, and in some countries, sex with a young virgin girl was thought to cure AIDS

Lack of education on use of contraception, cultural chauvinistic beliefs that sex with a virgin can cure aids. Hygiene factors, and the belief that AIDS originated in Africa so was not extensively researched until it became prominent in the western world.

Bceause the awareness isnt as prevelant as it is here. Also, because their economy isnt as developed as ours, Africa's people arent as educated about the harmful effects of unprotected sex, nor are they provided with condoms. Lots of AIDS is also spread by men raping women. In addition, many of their medical facilities arent as up to code as more developed countries. Because of this, their medical equipment isnt always as sterilized and blood isnt screened as well as the US for example. This may cause someone to contract the HIV virus through infected blood or contaminated equipment that had been used on them during surgery or a blood transfusion. Hope this helps.

Because scientists think that is where it started as a mutation in a strain of virus monkeys have. Africa is also one of the places in the world that there are no enforced laws governing the sex trade and if you want to buy a chicken to have sex with then you can buy a chicken!

Because a few hundred years ago, Black death killed a lot of people, and the rest of the people get some protection from that DNA's differences. maybe a few thousands year later, some virus kill more people in western than in Africa.

Because of many things - culture is a huge reason. And most economies in Africa are depressed, so they can't afford the "drug cocktails" that are being taken by people with AIDS in more civilized countries.

They don't use protection very much. And I saw a story saying that the men believe if they rape a child and give it to them, it will take the disease away from them. This seems to be a very big part of problem. They told about a 3 wk old little girl that four men raped, thinking it would cure them. It's disgusting and almost unbelievable, but that is what a lot of them believe.

It was supposedly the origin. But there is a wide lack of education and a lot of promiscuity. They rarely practice abstinence there and never take the proper precautions to protect themselves therefore not only do adults have it but many many children are born with it. It is very sad.

I believe there are a few major contributing factors (I'm sure I'm missing many, too):
- ignorance (lack of proper education about what causes/spreads/"cures" it)
- some in Africa believe that one can get rid of AIDS by having sex with a young virgin, thereby, spreading it further
- lack of medicine
- lack of timely medicine deliveries

There's a lack of education, and therefore more practices that would result in the spread of AIDS. Also, condoms are expensive and difficult to get, and again people aren't educated to know they should use them.

Polygamy is practise in Africa, so when the AIDS virus struck it affected Africa hard; other societies which also practise polygamy were also affected.
