Reasons your heart could be skipping beats:
premature ventricular contractions (PVC's) or premature atrial contractions (PAC's): these are extra beats that are usually followed by a brief pause. Harmless.
Second degree heart block, type 1: usually harmless, unless you have symptoms like chest pain or shortness of breath.
Second degree heart block, type 2. not so harmless. usually requires treatment.
How do you know what you have? You need an EKG (heart tracing) to see what is going on.
PAC's and PVC's are very common, and that is probably what it is.

More likely you are not as fit as you think you are. It also depends how high your heart rate goes during exercise, and for how long. From peak exercise, your heart rate should drop at least 12 beats one minute after you slow down, and at least 30 beats within two minutes of slowing down. More than that is great, less indicates overdoing it.. Try exercising a little less, and see if you can get these results.

Sweetie, it could be any number of things, from "nothing to worry about" to "something that needs treatment". You really should see your doctor first, before you make any changes (unless they're obviously not good for you) to rule out anything that might need her/his attention. Worrying causes stress, which can be eliminated by knowing for sure. Take care.
