Most people in the US can get good "american" food at home anyways. However most people in the US can't get any "chinese food" at home. Not much point in going out to eat if you're going to eat the same things as you would at home. Since more people would be more interested in eatting something "different" when they eat out, there's more chinese resturants than "american" ones.

Because American culture is nothing but a mixture of all the other cultures in world. And besides, there are a lot Chinese people in the U.S.

I don't think America have a native recipe... say any American food. Even burger & hotdog aren't from America. America is so big that it contains people from many origins. Along with their journey, they bring their flavors. So don't expect any American food. Maybe Kentucky Fried Chicken is american :D, but nachos, burritos, pizza, etc aren't

I didn't know there were more Chinese restaurants.
Aren't Denny's, Carrows, Spires, Sizzler, Soup Plantation, Hoff's Hut, Red Robin, Apple Bee's, Fridays, etc. (too many to name) American restaurants?
I guess it depends where you live.

American food is boring. Not to mention, chinese food is usually cheaper for a higher quantity. And FAST.

it just seems so. chinese focused on certain trades to be established in when they emigrated to this country, among them was serving chinese food. however, compare this with the huge amount of mcdonald's, burger king, etc. and they do not seem to predominate.
