I have looked at pictures of herpes and other such diseases that cause bumps, but mine do not look like any of them. They are not clear, they are not white, simply a dark purplish color, and the skin area has also grown dark. I am a white male with pale skin. Could it be an STD or is it folliculitis? There are no bumps on the penis or testicles.

I don' t think its an STD. Those usually affect the internals as well as the skin. Now, some herpes simplex viruses can be located in other places, but, as you have noted, they look different. Virus sores are usually clear or filled with fluid or open. I don't mean to be blunt, but, if you are overweight, what you are looking at is a long term chaffing rub. Nothing to be worried about, nothing to do. Losing weight really won't make it go away, but, you will feel better being lighter !

Of course, if you are terribly concerned, or it you develop an itchy rash, discharge, or even an change in smell of your urine, see your doctor. If none of that happens, you might want to see a dermatologist to see if there is a new method to remove it.

Good luck

They sound like a bump that I had at one time, they are sometimes called boils, theres a pore and bacteria from the skin get in there, it's basically a pimple under the skin. A very good tip is to put a moist, warm compress on it a couple of times a day and it will draw it out.
