I was raised pretty much vegan and was a star athlete triple lettering my senior year in basketball, track (sprints & long dist.), and softball. In my 20's I became a carnivoire :O} . Now I am a 95% vegetarian and feel much better and have more energy than when I was not eating nutritionally. I still have a weakness for thanksgiving turkey. My reasons for returning to vegetarianism are varied. Just a few are seeing how the animals producing meat, milk, and eggs are raised. The unhealthy environment, chemical additives to their food, and the various diseases play a large part. Also, I don't think meat is a neccessity with all the options now available but most of all I don't think the wanton slaughtering of animals is pleasing to God.
It seems that the major reason some people don't do well as vegetarians is because of a lack of nutritional knowledge.

Yes... I was strict vegan, then vegetarian, and now I eat some fish, meat and dairy. My reason is simple... it takes a lot of time for a vegan to cook and prepare food properly so that you get enough complete protein from vegetables, nuts, legumes and whole grains. My life got a lot busier when I finished graduate school and went back to work, so without enough food prep time I started getting run down from insufficient protein just eating the fruits and veggies I could find in delis and corner markets. I have added back fish, nonfat cottage cheese and ricotta, and every now and then a little white meat chicken or turkey (but organic, free range only!), and now I definitely feel a lot healthier and more energetic.

I became veg for about 100 reasons (believe me, I used to tell them to anyone who was unfortunate enough to ask.) I've stayed veg for 20 years because it's good for me and I don't think the best way for me to sustain life is by consuming death. I had a craving for a cold roast beef sandwich once (about a year in) but that passed and I have honestly never had the desire to eat meat since then. I get plenty of protein and nutirents, look and feel healthy, have enough energy to work and work out and play... and what more do I need?

My daughter was a veg for about a year. She became fatigued, and I added a protein supplement to her diet. She recently started eating sea food and chicken because she dislikes the protein shake. She dislikes red meat, and fatty food. Most likely that is due to the fact her dad made her eat all the meat on her plate when she was a little girl (my option)

I'm a vegetarian. I chose to become vegetarian because I can't stand the smell/texture/taste/look of meat. It really grosses me out.
