I really appreciate ethnic cooking by my friends from Pakistan, Egypt, etc.

I went to Uzbekistan before and honestly, I think the other Middle Eastern varities of cooking tasted better than the Uzbek version. I think the other countries have more available spices, even though Uzbekistan is near the old "silk & spice road". The meats just tasted more dry and had a lot less flavor, but that is my own personal opinion. Also, it could be the cuts of meat available to them.

meat shwarma is pretty good....i dont like those purple beets or whatever that are used as appetizers
