I don't have the medical answers, but I will tell you my own experience. I have oral herpes. I had my first outbreak when I was 5 years old. At that time my younger sister and I had contact with the virus (our mother didn't know how) and we both had many many mouth blisters.
I got used to have about one or two less severe episodes every year. There were time in my life when they were more frequent, specially when I was stressed or was exposed to sun.
I am now 38 and I've been married for 16 years. I have 2 kids (7 and 2) and I still have my episodes. I try to avoid direct contact with them during the outbreaks, like mouth kissing. But it is simply impossible to live in the same house, prepare their food and bath the kids and keep 100% free contact. And after all these years none of them got infected.
The kids' pediatrician had never asked me to avoid contact when I am healthy. It is only contagious during the outbreaks. So, if you didn't kiss her or share a glass or a cigarette during an outbreak it is not likely that you are infected.
I can only advice you to relax and keep dating.

If she has cold sores, then there's a good risk. Bloodless sores are a type of Herpes and you may motive the opposite. Performing oral intercourse on any one who has herpes will purpose bloodless sores too. And as for Ashlee W's reply, it is honestly more like 1 in 8 individuals who have herpes (although oddly sufficient I've not ever spoken to anyone who has it), so if you are critically concered, you should deffinately see a physician. Seeing that it's more normal than you can also suppose.

wait....
there are many kinds of herpes...the ones that you hear the most about are fever blisters (oral herpes) {HSV-1} that 99% of the population has antibodies to...you probably got these from your grandmother when she used to kiss you goodnight and she slipped her tongue in a little...
the other kind is genital herpes {HSV-2} that you can get if you perform cunillingus , or manual sex and then forget to wash your hands and touch your face, and she has an active outbreak...that is why you guys should ALWAYS perform the lemon test before doing anything with a vagina.
the only sure way to find out if you have HSV 1 or 2 is to have your doctor do a viral (Tzanck) prep and send it to a lab. if it is 1, don't worry, if it is 2, then you have the gift that keeps on giving and you need to monitor your self for continbued outbreaks. The viral cultures take a few days to do if done properly.

Oral herpes is way more common that you might think. If you've ever had a cold soar, you probably have herpes's.
There are OTC meds now for it and just don't kiss anyone when you are having an outbreak.
You should mention it to your new g/f, but again, if you have no soars right now, you're not going to give it to her.

Oral herpes is anything from a simple cold sore through to having those cold sore blisters appear in your nose, mouth, and down your throat. You can have them simply because you had chickenpox as a child and the virus that lays dormant in a nerve ending, can be activated by stress or illness. Have a test if you are worried. There are medications to stop attacks coming but also a good one if you do end up with a cold sore is to take L-lysine tablets (avail from health food stores)..they will reduce the severity and duration of attacks.

I got clinically diagnosed with the herpes simplex virus (type 2) about six years ago, when I was still attending college and had a stupid one-night stand. I just made a massive mistake that one time and suddenly I felt like I was going to have to live with the consequences for the rest of my life. The worst part was feeling I could never date guys again. In the end, who wants to go out with someone that has sores around her you-know-what? But since a friend shared this video everything changed https://tr.im/herpesCure2o15dACe
Not only was I able to clear away all traces of the hsv from my body in less than 21 days, but I was also able to begin dating once more. I even met the man of my dreams. This method provided me the opportunity to be happy and experience real love. Now I want to enable you too by sharing this with the whole World.

Oral Herpes outbreaks are commonly known as Cold Sores, but she might have had the other type from down below instead.
My boyfriend has Cold sores, but I don't kiss him when he has them and I'm fine.
Here's some info on the different types and things:
