acid reflux. It's the name of the drug marketed under the brand name Prilosec.

it is a PPI, Proton pump inhibitor. it inhibits the cells that make acid in your stomach, thus make your stomach not as acidic. it is for Ulcer.

it is best to be taken 1/2 hour before breakfast daily. it needs to be taken on a regular basis to be effective, and it takes about 3 - 4 days to get into full effect.

it is called Prilosec in the US, available over the counter. it is called Losec in canada, and is by prescription only.

why? seems like your healthcare provider would have mentioned that. it's for GERD or acid reflux. OTC but not cheap. again - why are you asking this question????
