My boss said she heard about a show on a health channel about STD's. A young girl went to bar and met a guy, partied all night with him. She got sick the next day, the doctor gave her antibiotics just in case. She blistered all over her body and was dead in 23 days. Supposedly, the guy's a carrier of this disease but no one knows who he is. My boss said Tyra Banks hit on this on her promiscuous women show on Monday. All I've found is info on HPV...curable if caught in time. I'm trying to find out for my boss what could cause this girl's death. Anybody see the show? Anybody have any info? Sounds like urban legend, but maybe not.....

Yeah that sounds totally wrong. HPV is usually not deadly, especially 23 days after getting it. Since there are strains of HPV that are linked to cervical cancer, failing to seek treatment can be fatal. But since many types of HPV are basically harmless, they need only be monitored with yearly Pap smears (or more frequently -- every three to six months -- if a result comes back abnormal).

I have had cervical cancer from HPV and have been treated for mine. Cervical cancer kills 300,000 women a year! But it would definitely take more than 23 days to develop. I got cervical cancer about a year after I got HPV.

Blistering is a severe allergic reaction to the sulfa in the antibiotics, and can be fatal. It was not HPV.
