When working in an attic or other dusty area, use of a mask or respirator is recommended to avoid lung irritation. Attic spaces may be dark, confined, and subject to extreme temperatures.
The fact that the ventilation is poor combined with the climate and dust makes this a not-so-easy breathing area. You should really wear a mask or some kind of breathing apparatus.
Take frequent breaks! I'm not a professional in this industry so I don't claim this as professional advice. If you have a Foreman, I suggest starting where the experience is... Ask him/her what's goin' on and what they suggest you do about this. If your breathing is really labored and you're having a lot of trouble you should check into a doctor, or emergency room.

I feel for ya! Working in attics in the summer would SUCK!

Good luck and DON'T FORGET THE MASK AND WATER!

I would check with a doctor, but I have heard of something like this, and it has to do with molds that are present, and are affected by heat. Also, if you are asthmatic, it may be a reaction to something else, but again, definitely check with your doctor. Breathing problems should be taken very seriously.
