Make it a sleep-over.

I do not condone underage drinking. That said, at 18 I had friends that couldn't (or wouldn't) brush their teeth in the morning without a nip. I could never have thrown a party with my circle in which I could keep out the alcohol, even if I hadn't been an offender.

I agree with the sleepover and taking the keys method and would suggest a camp-out. Tell all that sleeping there is mandatory for this party, have a responsible person collect keys and park cars in a very tight row so those with extra keys won't be able to get their cars (not you - it's your birthday). Talk about what a great night it will be with no drama with everyone as you greet them and have a few friends keep dropping the hint that, for this night, everyone is part of the group any anyone causing drama demanding their keys will not be tolerated by the rest of the group. Make sure you are not the one responsible; nothing worse than dealing with drunk people bending your ear constantly about how they need more to drink, can buy more food for the party or must pick up the reigning party animal (who can't drive 'til he/she is 21 due to an under age DUI).

Having drinks is going to make people get too drunk and drive. By default, if you are under the age of 30 and you have a party with similar aged friends there is a 90% chance that everyone will get trashed.
Some things you can do instead are go see a movie, do a service project together, have a pool party, You could have a trip to NYC or DC or something with a few close friends for a day or two. That might be entertaining without being harmful.

I would suggest growing up. You're 18 and going to be an adult. Learn to make your own intelligent decisions. All I heard from what you said is "I wanna...". Imagine this, you could have a party without drinking.

And I notice you said you don't want people to "get too drunk and drive." Not that you don't want anyone to drink and drive at all. That alone indicates that you are not old enough to be drinking. If I were your mother I'd buy you a pack of diapers for your birthday.

I wouldnt get a lot if you want people to drive home after wards.

drinking + driving = big mistake

maybe some mikes hard, smirnoffs, bartles and james, or some wine would do. But you are still young, you have another 3 years to appreciate things until your 21st birthday and you dont need to drink just yet.

Use your imagination. you dont need people telling you what you need to do. Get together with some of your friends, let them know you arent sure what you want to do for your 18th and they should be able to help you out.

Take their keys, have them stay over. If you don't want them to drink and drive.. either don't let them drink or don't let them drive. It sounds like from all the "please dont's" that you just want people to say "go ahead and let people drink." Really, you shouldn't, BUT considering if teens want to drink they're going to drink, at least be smart about it and don't let them endanger themselves or others whether on the road or just hanging out at a party. So I'd suggest just taking all their keys away and not letting them have them until the next morning.

It's illegal in every state of the union for 18 y/o to be drinking. You and your parents will be liable if anyone drinks and drives, no matter what they're age. Don't risk it. You will be old enough to be prosecuted as an adult!

Boy or Girl, Drinking is a bad idea. IF you are going to, anyway...COLLECT car keys at the door...NOBODY drives.PERIOD. Make it a sleepover. (supervised) and LIMIT alcohol consumption to maybe 2 LIGHT ones..like Mikes or wine coolers. It`s not all you think it is, anyway...plan GAMES and snacks. Wishing you a Happy Birthday!!! From my heart to yours!! : )

what is wrong with you? Drinking is bad...it's not only bad in huge quantities, but also in little ones as well. Go to the beach for your party or something less-stupid

I agree with Oblivia, make it a sleep over. Because when anyone is drunk, u will be sure that he/she won't drive home drunk.
