When I was 20 I was having chest pains and they did an EKG. According to the EKG, I had either had a heart attack or was having a heart attack, but neither was the case. After a stress test came back normal, they said something about having polarities reversed which usually doesn't happen until one is older, just wondering if anyone else has heard of this?

The term reverse polarity refers to a reversal of the EKG leads (the wires). What probably happened with the EKG you had done was that someone messed up on which wire went where. This is a fairly common occurrence, but if not caught the resulting EKG will often show what looks like ischemia (i.e. heart attack).

In E.C.G. P waves,QRS complex and T waves are +ve in most leads.A negative wave indicates ischemia. After exercise blood supply to the ischemic part is restored and _ve wave becomes +ve.This constitutes a confirmation of ischemia but also means it is reversible with exercise .One can make this permanent by exercising and weight reduction.Your prognosis is good.
