Coenzyme Q10 deficiency can cause high blood pressure, the oxidation of LDL cholesterol, and an inefficient or weak heart muscle. The deficiency of vitamin E (not just d-alpha, but gamma tocopherol and the tocotrienols) is a major contributing factor for the risk of stroke and heart attack.
