That's not true.

HIV originated in primates as far as is known. Possible ways for this virus to have originally infected humans include the hunting and eating of the original primate species; a bite would be another possible route. From this point, the virus ultimately spread to the rest of the world.

If a cross species jump is indeed the origin of HIV then the following conditions would most likely be required:
a large human population,
a large nearby population of a host animal,
a pathogen that eventually mutates to spread from animal to human,
interaction between the species to transmit enough of it to humans to establish a human foothold, which may take millions of individual exposures,
a mutation of same pathogen that can spread from human to human,
some method that allows the pathogen to disperse widely so it does not "burn out" in a local population of humans.

Such requirements existed in the remote past with smallpox, and also with the 20th century Spanish Flu.

Two species of HIV infect humans: HIV-1 and HIV-2. HIV-1 is more virulent and more easily transmitted. HIV-1 is the source of the majority of HIV infections throughout the world, while HIV-2 is less easily transmitted and is largely confined to West Africa.

Both species of the virus (HIV-1 and HIV-2) are believed to have originated in West-Central Africa and jumped species (zoonosis) from primates to humans. HIV-1 evolved from a Simian Immunodeficiency Virus (SIVcpz) found in the chimpanzee subspecies Pan troglodytes troglodytes. DNA sequencing indicates that HIV-1 (group M) entered the human population in the early 20th century, probably sometime between 1915 and 1941. HIV-2 crossed species from a different strain of SIV, this one found in sooty mangabeys (an Old World monkey) of Guinea-Bissau.

I've got to agree with the other answers posted. There was a way to ask your question in a diplomatic way. AIDS is a serious problem worldwide, people are suffering, dying and families and loved ones are torn apart. Most likely, your question was meant to be funny, controversial or otherwise provocative. I don't know anybody personally that has the dreaded virus, but compassion and dignity is what this dire situation needs. I'm curious to see if and what your best answer will be or if you'll realize that this question belongs in the trash.... Good Luck!!!

Nobody knows for sure when or where, but the AIDS epidemic is thought to have begun in the primeval forests of West Africa when a virus lurking in the blood of a monkey or a chimpanzee made the leap from one species to another, infecting a hunter.

Either way even if it came from black people, guess who brought the black people from Africa and against their own will, as slaves. I don't think we should be pointing fingers here, it's not fair. Read as much as you can on AIDS and become educated about it.

Is it more important for u after 25 years, to know how it spread than do something about educating people about it and thus control the pandemic. The HIV jumped from monkeys to man in Africa,is it the fault of the Africans?just for arguments sake, lets say,the HIV jumped from monkey to human in Europe or America.Would u blame the white people for that.
Grow up man, stop living in the past,HIV/AIDS is a reality, help in controlling it if u can instead of blaming africans.
Also, first get ur facts right,HIV didnot spread coz someone had sex with a monkey but spread through a monkey bite or becoz someone ate bush meat.

what happened is some belgian scientist went to africa to work on a polio vaccine... there they used blood and tissue samples from chimpanzees infected with SIV... tha's HIV but for simians (monkeys)

it's thought that many numbers of congo people were infected with aids this way, and this concentration of positive cases allowed the disease to really develop as a human disease

you have to figure taht someone infected wtih HIV thru casual contact, is not necessarily going to start an epidemic. but injecting 1000's of people with HIV tainted polio vaccine will do it.

read "the river"... good book. it's been slandered and attacked by all the other scientists with their own pet theories but the guy's got a solid case

Their is substantial scientific research that indicates this is a likely scenario. World wide, AIDS is nearly evenly distributed across the human species. However, in the USA, it is homosexual men who have the highest rates by far--check out the CDC statistics. In the inner cities the rates are highest among Negroes and drug addicts.

Soulestada:
Reported for what?? You are the one who referred to Monkey Fu##rs or whatever. I think you ought to get the paranoid little devil off your shoulders and start thinking instead of just reacting emotionally.

No one "brought" white people AIDS... AIDS probably wouldn't have spread to the white people is they weren't having sex with Africans! Does this make the "white man" just as bad as the so-called monkey f*ckers? Think about it.

What do you have to say about the "white man" bringing syphilis and small pox to the indigenous peoples of the Americas, Africa, Polynesia, Melanesia, and Micronesia? I guess you could say what goes around comes around, but that would accomplish nothing.

I realize that you are probably just a troll, but come on...think before you speak!

Oh yeah...REPORTED.

EDIT: Sam H, I was not referring to you when I said "reported". I was referring to the original poster. Who's the paranoid one here? : /

LISTEN! before you go out in the real world and talk the way you talk, you will definitely need to get educated on the disease. If I were you I really would not say that face to face with someone. Because you might I mean you definitely would get your A** Beat!!!!

KelKel0514 is a moron.... You are correct.... if you search the archives of TV journalism, you will that Peter Jennings from ABC news reported back in 1982 that "HAITIANS" were the sole source of AIDS in the US... and thus MYTH CONFIRMED...

Absolutely true... I lived in Miami at the time
