OK. Maybe I wasn't clear. The STD in question would be chlamydia. The deal is, I recently started dating someone that I've dated before, and he came to me after one week of us having PROTECTED SEX and said that he had a UTI (urinary tract infection) and possibly chlamydia. I was already on doxycycline AND kephlex for post-cancer purposes. I am continuously on at least 3 types of antibiotics because of a staph infection I have in my breasts. I have NOT stopped taking my medications, and I made SURE he finished his, but after HIS first treatment, he has the same thing, and we HAVE NOT had sex since that first time. Is that a bit more clear to those of you who were being a TAD judgemental?????

Well there is a huge chance he got it.. if it was even the least bit active or contagius then yup he could have gotten it from you.
Even tho you were on meds it really doesnt matter... it could still be contagius.. medicationg does nothing for anyone else but for you.

I am sure you have gotten tons of flack.. sorry about that. It is a bummer really... guess that is why there are so many advocates of condoms no matter what.

I was lucky.. virgin til I met my husband and never been with anyone else in 14 years..... but I am old school I guess.LOL
Glad I never had to worry 'bout that.. but we do have a daughter... now I do worry about it for her.. hope she keep her head about her and does the responsible thing... like me.

Have you both gone to the doctor to see if it is in fact your STD that he has? If there is a diagnosis and contration guess date around when you both were together then that would give a better ideas.

Sorry and good luck!

Likelyhood is about 100%. Why would you want to have sex until you're cured? If you use the same sex partner, you run the risk of transferring it right back to yourself. If you don't use the same sex partner and no protection, you deserve the STD in the first place and will likely have more in the future. Play it safe and don't have sex until you're clean. And for pete sake, practice SAFE SEX.

It depends on which STD it is.

You should still consider yourself and your partner infected for up to 2 weeks in most cases. If you take the treatment, it may take a while for all the bacteria to die.

In the meantime, your significant other may have already killed off the infection; his drug levels may be lower than yours, he may have a different strain, etc. It is possible that you keep giving it back and forth to each other.

If the bugs are not yet cleared from the system, you can still transmit it. Wait till you have finished the treatment and had a confirmatory test as sometimes you may need another course of antibiotics.

You should always finish your medication and be rechecked to make sure you have been treated..what happens it often couples are treated but pass the STD back and forth to each other by not using protection and someone ends up not treated or under treated..I would recommend not having sex under you both are rechecked...

Some STD viruses may remain in your body throughout the life and there is no known cure for the same.(Example:-genitalis Herpes simplex). Hence he will spread the disease for the rest of his life without partner's consent and knowledge.

If you're on medication then the likelihood that the STD is in remission is lessened. Therefore, you really shouldn't have sex until you're sure you can't trasmitt it.
