Myself and a few friends all got tested together last year and everyone was fine, however, yesterday one of them has disclosed that they have since tested positive. This person I'll call "Adam" has been very promiscuious and I now feel bad because I dont feel very compassionate although I should. Nobody deserves such a disease but what do you say when it feels like 'no surprise'?

hi, adam dont need to be console, what is important is that hes living and hes just like every one. so you you should encourage him to visit hiv clinic where there are train counselors who will counsil him very well and be tested for weither he will be on drugs called ARV antiretro viral drugs, they are wanderful lattest reserch proves that aids patients responds to ARV excellently once the drugs are adhired to. he ill be ok can run his normal life like anyone and nothing will happen to him,but its important that he has to be at hiv clinic fast that what u can do to him. do u console a diebatic or hypertensive person? they are living so also Adam will live also with good health. pls my regards to him.

Yeah, I can see why it'd be hard to feel compassionate. On the one hand, I mean "Adam" kinda brought it upon himself by being so promiscuous and not playing it safe. On the other hand, dying from HIV/AIDS is no walk in the park either.
My response is I'm not sure you can console them other than to say "I'm sorry you got this disease." Other than that it is no real surprise, they should have seen it coming, if anything you could be mean and lecture them about it and say that they had it coming to them.
Of course, that would be pretty mean

Not too long ago, I read somewhere, that one of the biggest kept secrets about aids today, is the fact hundreds of sufferers are being CURED world-wide, by Buddhists temples teaching them self-awareness.

You don't have to become a Buddhist.

How about doing some research and see what you can come up with. Why not let your fingers do the walking.

Peace,
Well-wisher
