Depends on the wrapping. If it's that clear wrap and tray you buy fresh meat in, I'd only keep it about 2 months- you'll get freezer burn if you keep it much longer than that.
Cry-o-vac packing, like when you buy a frozen turkey, can go much longer as long as you don't thaw it out. At least 6 months, even a year in a deep freezer. I work in a meat market, and we'd often keep the leftover Thanksgiving turkeys in the deep freeze for months, sometimes even a full year, before displaying them for sale.

Because freezing keeps food safe almost indefinitely, recommended storage times are for quality only. Refer to the freezer storage chart at the end of Focus on Freezing, which lists optimum freezing times for best quality.
If a food is not listed on the chart, you may determine its quality after defrosting. First check the odor. Some foods will develop a rancid or off odor when frozen too long and should be discarded. Some may not look picture perfect or be of high enough quality to serve alone but may be edible; use them to make soups or stews. Cook raw food and if you like the taste and texture, use it.

Generally poultry for not more than 3 months. Other meat like lamb or beef for about 6-9 months.

Its not safe to put a turkey in the freezer. How would you like it if a turkey put you in the freezer? Have some respect for the bird. Where would Thanksgiving be without the turkey?

I usually wrap boneless chicken breasts tightly in 2 layers of saran wrap to stave off freezer burn. They come out fine up to a year later though the longer the chicken lingers the dryer it tends to be on thawing so it's hard to make dishes with moist chicken.

DEEP FREEZER: No more than a year. It's probably at it's best under 6 months.
REFRIGERATOR FREEZER: Not over a month or two.
