I do lots of things. The main ones are roasts, all types of stews, chill con carne, lasagnas, chicken with bacon and cheese on top with a BBQ sauce and last but not least, and the most important, cakes. Fish and raw eggs can't be done in the slow cooker but anything else can, you just need a bit of patience and confidence to try new things. I wouldn't be without my two. I either have one doing the main dish and the second one doing the dessert or I have both doing the main, for example the meat in one for a roast and the other one doing the vegetables. I do sometimes cook the vegetables with the meat but I find that my biggest slow cooker isn't big enough for my vegetables as well as the meat. To be honest, find yourself a good one pot cook book and use that. I was given a very good book for Christmas and it's really nice. Also, there is a slow cooker cook book but I found that a lot of the recipes are your ordinary everyday recipes, the only difference being that they take longer to cook.

Of course! The thing about it is in a slow cooker....your meat comes to a slow tender juicy taste. And takes hours to do such. Unlike in the oven...it cooks much much faster. So if you were to cook a soup, stew, roast, chili....or anything that will take hours to do....you might want to concider a slow cooker. Tastes way better when your meat is slowly cooked to perfection.

Slow cookers are very good for cooking food when you don't have time to watch it. Set it in the morning before going to work and have a good meal upon returning. It's a way of cooking that was very popular once and has returned.

yes it is- to keep things in a safe cooking zone, it needs to be 140+. Most of the slow cookers cook at that range or higher. You can use a thermometer to measure the temp in the pot. If at all fails use a meat thermometer. If it is kept below 140 you are in a danger zone for bacterial growth in your food.
Here is the safe zone for food: 40 and below to keep foods refrigerated, and 140 and above for cooked foods.
Food bacteria will not live long below 40 degrees and above 140 degrees. good luck and Bon Apetit

I've been using one for years now and have no problems with it. It cooks at a lower temperature, but there is always heat in it, and still completely cooks your food.

Yes it is. Just know you should start cooking 8 hours before you want to serve (meaning you start cooking it at noon and you want to serve it at 8 pm) or you can start it at 11 and still take it out at 8 for extra tenderness and juicy.

i do believe it's safe to cook in a slow cooker. my mom does it all the time. she cooks beans and puts them in a crock pot in the mornings, and then by the time i get back from school, which is around 2pm, their ready to eat. nothings happened to me so far so it's safe.

No. Pulses can not be cooked at low temperatures.Rice wheat need higher temperatures.Only eggs can be boiled or omlets made at low temperatures.It is safer not to cook and eat outside.

It should be safe. I have been doing it for 20 years and nothing I have cooked in it ever made me ill.
