They are just reflecting the fact that you've made a choice they don't understand. That, and the fact that lots of people try out vegetarianism but find that it's not for them for whatever reason.

Just don't let their comments get to you. It's your body, your life and your choice of how to nourish yourself. Someone referring to it as a phase does not make it any less a valid choice.

I have been veg for very nearly 20 years and people still ask me if I'm still veg... you just have to get used to it!

You may or may not stop being a vegetarian. The important part is it's your choice and your timing. Just be prepared to have people place their judgments on your life. Any action that is non-conformist is annoying to conformists.

I have married into military family, I have met and talked with John MC Cain personally in person one time. He is a not kind of right wing Republican. He registered himself as democrat for many years as young man, he told me. He was in Democrat party shortly before in early 80's to take a former Republican Barry Goldwater's seat in Arizona, but he served in the Republican party and often stays as liberal/moderate. He has disagreed with President Bush on his issues, only thing he agree of low taxes and very few things. John MC Cain was the one blast at President Bush and convince him to look into things as gas price ,global warming.. It happened to Joe Lieberman with Democrat party, he quit being a Democrat, he decided to be an independent, because Joe disagree with the way Democrat party is after being formed as democrat party. I disagree with Ron Paul over things for example, Ron Paul won't do anything with wars, if we get threats in here he won't do anything about it. Because he is a doctor his ethic as doctor is to save babies and deliver 4,000 babies, believing save people by not making war in here if that happens. He has no idea what age he is living in. He never seen the war in person! Ron Paul voted against everything, how he will get America unity after he vote against everything from both side of parties.

I was a vegitarian for 4 years and I enjoyed it. But the cow kept calling me and I REALLY missed BBQ, especially ribs. So I weaned myself back onto meat. Life Is GOOD

For one thing, your probably young. I went threw the same thing when I went to being a vegitarian. Show them your serious about it, and it may still take them a few months, but they'll figure it out befour too long.

Dont worry, they say that because they just dont understand your decision. To meat eaters it is inconceivable to stop eating meat. Once they see you cant be swayed they will stop, I think we all go through the same thing. Hang in there.....

For some reason, they think it's temporary. Don't worry about it. It's your choice for what you think is right for you.
