I'm wanting to date a vegetarian, but I love meat. She's not against meat on moral grounds, she just doesn't enjoy the taste. What is a good meal that I could cook for her, that I would also enjoy? It can be completely vegetarian or a compromise meal. Vegetarian would be preffered, though.

My husband and son just love their meats but now and then i sneak in a "healthy" meal on them and they just eat it up! Here are a couple i'd like to share with you :
Pasta Bake
12 ounces rotini pasta, uncooked
2 medium zucchini, chopped (about 2 cups or more)
1 jar of your favorite spaghettie sauce (meatless of course)
1 teaspoon dried basil leaves (its okay your a bachelor i understand if you dont have it.. use italian seansoning)
2 garlic cloves, pressed (you can smash them on the counter with side of knife)
2 ounces freshly grated pamesan cheese
2 cups shredded mozzarella
heat oven to 350 Cook and drain pasta according to pkg, Add sauce , chopped zucchini, basil and garlic, mix . In a baking dish start layering the pasta mix with mozeralla and parmesan. Cover with foil and bake for 45min.. uncover and let bake an additional 5min serves great with garlic bread and salad.
Another Great One they enjoy:
Stuffed Mushroom-Spinach Pizza
4 ounces chopped mushrooms
1½ ounce freshly grated parmesan
1 pkg frozen spinach
½ cup pizza sauce (or spaghetti whatever kind of tomato sauce is okay)
2 pressed garlic cloves
1 pkg of pizza crust (get phillys, sold with the cookie dough and biscuits)
2 cups shredded mozzarella
2 lrg tomatoes, thinly sliced
Heat oven 425, combine mushrooms and ¼ cup of the parmesan, spinach and sauce sprinkle pressed garlic over top mix well add a dash of salt and pepper. Roll dough (you can use a floured cup or whatever you have handy to roll) into a rectangle , place dough into a deep baking dish (shape doesnt matter) overlapping the sides of dish with the dough lightly pressing down on bottom. Sprinkle 1 cup of mozarella cover with spinach mix then remaining mozarella and tomatoes, fold over lapping dough parts into center of dish bringing the sides together.Sprinkle with rest of parmesan and bake for 15-20min till its gets a golden color.

Reminder these are only ideas, a little tweaking in your own direction and you got your OWN recipe to be proud of.. Hope she enjoys the effort your putting out and that your meal goes Great!

I'm a vegetarian and my boyfriend is a meat lover, so I understand this problem. I make things for dinner like cheese & spinach pastries (you can buy them from the supermarket and they are YUMMY), pasta with loads of veggies and a creamy sauce, baked potatoes with beans & salsa & sour cream. I never have any complaints from him about these meals even though they have no meat, and he scoffs them down so that's a good sign. Also, if she doesn't mind that you eat meat then cook a roast with heaps of different roast veggies and just have the meat yourself. Good luck :)

You can always make a dish that does well with or with out meat. Something simple, easy to make, but just don't put in the meat this time.

Trust me - if your a meat eater, don't even try going vegatarian, it won't work. Anyway, you will just have to make her her own dish, it won't work and you'll be dissatified.....Good Luck

Adjust oven rack to middle position and heat oven to 300 degrees F.
Thoroughly pat roast dry with paper towels; sprinkle generously with salt and pepper.
Heat oil in large heavy-bottomed Dutch oven over medium high heat until shimmering but not smoking.
Brown roast thoroughly on all sides, reducing heat if fat begins to smoke, 8- 10 minutes.
Transfer roast to a large plate; set aside.
Reduce heat to medium; add onion, carrot, and celery to pot and cook, stirring occasionally, until beginning to brown, 6- 8 minutes.
Add garlic and sugar; cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
Add chicken and beef broths and thyme, scraping bottom of pan with wooden spoon to loosen browned bits.
Return roast and any accumulated juices to pot; add enough water to come halfway up sides of roast.
Bring liquid to simmer over medium heat, then cover tightly and transfer pot to oven.
Cook, turning roast every 30 minutes until fully tender and meat fork slips in and out of meat very easily.
(3 1/2- 4 hours) Transfer roast to carving board, tent with foil to keep warm.
Allow liquid in pot to settle about 5 minutes, then use wide spoon to skim fat off surface; discard thyme sprig.
Boil over high heat until reduced to about 1 1/2 cups, about 8 minutes.
Add red wine and reduce again to 1 1/2 cups, about 2 minutes.
Season to taste with salt and pepper.
Cut meat into 1/2 inch slices, or pull apart in pieces; tranfer meat to warmed serving platter and pour about 1/2 cup sauce over meat.
Serve, passing remaining sauce.

Note: Can add small red potatoes, pearl onions or quartered larger ones, cabbage and/or whole peeled carrots can be added 1hour before roast is finished for a full course meal.
