Meat...that's like a main source for what? Protein? Fat? Have you cosidered that you can get more than enough protein, vitamins, minerals, roughage, etc. from the following?
Soy
Fruits
Vegetables
Legumes
Wheat
Rice
Barley
Nuts
Pasta
"They eventually die from protein deficiency." This must take decades and decades, as I know many people who have been vegetarians, and some vegan, for years and years.

Well bread, pizza without pepperoni, vegetables, fruits, nuts for protein and peanut butter for protein, pasta without meat sauce, dairy, and other things. Vegetarians have a bigger supply of food than you think.

Beans, lentils, vegetables, breads. I'm a vegetarian, and eat things like vegetable soups, salad rolls, scrambled eggs, baked beans and fruit.
