So I became a veggie around the time of spring break (because I don’t wanna eat an animal because I think that it would suck) now some people are calling a wanna-be and a fake but my good friends know I’m true what should I do

Do what you think is right, but respect other people choices too. Some vegetarians get a little too obsessive with their beliefs.

Well I was there 2 see I went to Hawaii for Spring Break and I saw a roasted pig then I became a veggie and I had sorta the same thing. What you need to do is say " well i would like to see you try being a vegetarian" but if that is 2 forward for friends or people in general just say I wanna do this so I am not a wanna-be plus wanna-be's say they do something but they don't really.

Good for you! Really! I've been veg almost all my life, and I couldn't be happier with the decision. If it's what you want, absolutely stick to your guns!

One thing you have to understand, though. It IS a healthier way of living, but there are some things that aren't available in any foods except meats. L-carnitine is an amino acid necessary for the body (helps build healthy muscle tissue, and aids in burning fat) but is naturally only found in red meat. It's not hard to find, but usually comes in a gelatin (*an animal product*) capsules. The health food store, Nature's Way, carries one in veggie capsules. B-12 is the other one scarce in veg diets. Cyanocobalamin is the vegan form of it, and is also very easy to find.

Nutrition is key. Make sure you know how much protein your body needs, and make sure you're getting it all. Know what you diet may be missing, and learn how to fix it. Really, DO your research, and make sure to use reliable sources!

Don't worry about the people who are insisting on labeling you; they are just doing it because you've made a decision that they don't understand. In the end, though, someone calling you a wannabe is not important.

If you feel strongly about your vegetarianism and you stick to it, they will either come around and stop calling you names or they won't. You just need to know that your decision is personal and their opinions shouldn't have any bearing on how you choose to nourish yourself.

I understand, I had the same thing at first. People kept calling it a "phase" and thought I was doing it just to lose weight. Just keep at it, and in time they will stop hassling you when they realise you are serious about it. In the mean time, take no notice of them. We vego's cop a bit from people who don't understand. You just have to learn to live with it.

Keep it up, it wears off.
I've been a vegetarian for a few years, and occasionally the more rude people in my family still say things like, "Oh, you're still doing that, huh?".
Seriously though, you're not the one that comes across as a moron ;)

If what you are doing is what your conscience tells you... then who cares what others have to say... but the question that you have to ask yourself is are you being honest about all this... There's nothing fake about being a vegan, its a way of life that others have to respect, just the way they expect others to respect their way of life.

stick to your guns. What other people label you is not going to matter in the long run; if you feel you are doing the right thing, then keep doing it.
