I believe we were never meant to eat meat. We can survive quite happily and healthily without it.

I used to not only be a vegetarian, I used to be a vegan (one who consumes absolutely no animal products at all).

I was a vegan, because I thought that the diet was much healthier for a person's body, as well, I am highly concerned about animal rights. It bothers me to think of consuming animal products mindlessly.

I am no longer a vegan, nor a vegetarian, though, because I lost far too much weight (I didn't have any to lose in the first place), and in doing so, I found out that I was on my way to being diabetic. I am much healthier on a diabetic diet now, which includes meats and dairy.

I struggled with the issues for quite some time before I came to the conclusion that everyone's body is different (umm.. eureka?) and that a vegan or vegetarian diet was certainly not healthy for all people, decidedly me.

I just eat with awareness now, and I give (silent or in prayer) thanks to the poor animal that suffered in order that I might be kept alive from their remains. It sounds awful, and yes, I still struggle, but there's no other way for me.

Hope this helps.

I went vegatarian recently ( about 4 months ago ) to help me lose some weight. It has helped this is because when I get wasted I always want to indulge in a hamburger or something meaty but since I went veggie all I want is to eat healthy and my views on meat and processing has changed. I still think meat looks and smells good, but I just have no desire for it anymore. I am sure there will be a time when I will eat meat again, just not any time soon - personal choice.

I'm vegetarian because I personally get grossed out by the look/smell/texture and taste of meat. Every time I ate meat I felt sick and sluggish. So I gave it up!

I became a vegetarian for moral reasons after finding out the atrocities animals suffered to get to my plate. I later found out that I was also saving the environment and helping society.

Because, i personally think meat is disgusting and foul. It tastes gross, feels gross in your mouth, and when I think about what I'm eating it makes me want to gag! I love being a vegetarian!

We have so much available to us in the modern world. That said, why do we need to raise torture and kill others to survive. Humanity should have evolved to the point that we realize that it's wrong to harm another creature to satisfy a desire for meat. We raise young beings who never know freedom so that we can send them to a slaughter house so that they can be packages up and sent to your grocery store. How can we expect to advance morally and give up the slaughter of our sisters and brothers if we don't give up the slaughter of creatures we deem to be 'beneath' us.
