What is involved in gettin tested for stds? my buddy told me a horror story and wonderin if ther are alternatives besides lyin to my GF and tellin her i did.

There used to be a lot of horror stories going around about swabs being inserted into the tip of the penis, because that's the way testing for chlamydia used to be performed. Now, STD clinics can test for chlamydia in urine. Syphilis testing and Hepatitis-C tests are blood tests. HIV testing can be done either by using blood or by OraSure, which is basically pressing a cotton pad in the mouth against the gumline and sending it off to a lab.
I'm not sure if the swab is still being used for gonorrhea testing in men, but chlamydia is much more common in most parts of the U.S. than gonorrhea is.

I work at a doctor's office and we check STD's everyday. Just schedule an appt with a regular family physician. When they askl what you'll be seen for say "an STD check". When you come in just say you want a "full panel STD check up". You'll do a blood test and within 24-48 hrs. you get the results. It's definately NOT something you have to be nervous or shy about because Dr.'s these days actually respect people that do this in order to protect themselves as well as other people! :)

first off , if you have an STD your GF will need to be treated also or you will just keep passing it back and forth. getting tested for STD's in guys involves a very small wire with a little cotton tip being inserted in the tip of the penis to get any bacteria on the swab. it'll be sent to lab and may have the results in an hour. im not a guy so im assuming there is mild discomfort but its worth knowing if you have something and being treated!

if your a girl, you get a blood test, but that mainly to check for aids; and a pap smear. The doc just puts you in stirrups and swabs the vagina for samples. If your a guy, they do a blood test, and the swab the inside of the tip of you penis.
By the way, please don't lie to you g/f, especially not about something like that. I mean, if you had a deadly virus, would you really want to give it to her?
