Absolutely. Getting your tubes tied is suppose to prevent pregnancy, not STDS.

You can still get HIV/AIDS from a person that has the STD, regardless if you have had your tubes tied.

Hello:
This is in reference to your question posted on yahoo about tubal ligation and HIV/AIDS.
I assume your question is, can you still get HIV if you get your tubes tied. The answer is absolutely YES.
The HIV virus can still be transmitted sexually through any small tears, or openings in the tissue of your vagina, from an infected male (or female). When you get your tubes tied, all that does is prevent sperm from traveling up the fallopian tubes where conception begins then the fertilized egg travels down to the uterus where it becomes implanted and begins to grow.
I would use condoms 100% of the time unless you are in a monogamous relationship, your partner is HIV negative and you know that there is no infidelity occurring.
I hope this helped answer your question and alleviate some of your concerns.
Regards,
Warren Shaffer, M.D.

tube tying is just supposed to prevent pregnancy which is a uterus thing. When you have sex you use your whole body-mouth, vagina and what not-If someone has HIV and their bodily fluids come in contact with yours then you mat contract the virus. If you get your tubes tied ask your doc how that works and they probably have diagrams.

Sweetie getting your tubes tied and contracting HIV are two completely different things. Yes you can still have HIV if your tubes are tied.

Absolutely, you could have HIV/AIDS or you could get it with future encounters. The only thing getting your tubes tied does is help prevent pregnancy. You get HIV by exposure to blood, seme, vaginal fluids, or breast milk. Period.

Getting your tubes tied will only prevent pregnancy, it will not keep you from getting AIDS or any other STD.
