Your not a vegetarian if you eat fish however you clearly already understand self control or you wouldn't have been able to restrict your diet that much. That is a great start! Here are some things that I KNOW work....
1. Boost your metabolism by eating more small meals and less full meals. If you eat 4-5 small healthy snack sized meals your metabolism will speed up to keep up with the intake.
2. Watch out for high sugar and high carb meals, but don't avoid them all together. If you try to cut something out entirely you are likely to cheat. Create a reasonable plan you can stick to.
3. Try berries and yogurt for your sweet tooth instead of candy. Avoid soda all together. Get an Italian soda if you are hooked on the fizz.
4. When you have a crunch craving grab raw vegetables instead of chips.
5. Take the stairs, don't drive through. Find easy places in your life to increase your activity level. If you hate the gym, don't go! If you force yourself to do something you hate you will not stay dedicated because your diet will be work. It needs to be a whole lifestyle change, not a quick diet. Quick diets will not help you keep the weight off.
6. Drink lots of water!! Seriously, this will help control cravings to snack and keep your digestive system moving efficiently. Water is a big deal.
7. Be patient. The longer it takes the weight to come off, the longer it will stay off. Seriously!
8. Re commit to your diet everyday. If you cheat or mess up one day don't quit all together. Just start over the next day. Sometimes a brief diet relapse will boost your metabolism and even help a dieter to pass a plateau. Don't beat yourself up. It takes a long time to change a behavior that you do everday like eating.

Good Luck!

Atkins and any of the highprotein diets don't work long term. I tried it, and it only worked for a month. Same results from my friends.

Put simply -- cut calorie intake.

Try to cut out empty calories. Just cutting out regular soda can lose you several lbs a month for heavy soda drinkers.

Minimize junk food

Avoid excessive dairy & cheese. The idea milk makes you lose weight is a dishonest study paid for by the milk lobbyists (don't believe me? research it!)

If you do want starches, try to stick to less refined ones. Whole grain is better than refined wheat which is still better than cheapo white bread.

No more fast food! Even the salads at those places are 800+ calores and loaded with fat. Pack your luck or at least snacks until you can get home to cook.

if you are vegetarian and want to lose weight cut out the dairy for awhile. you need to stick to fruits and vegetables and some grains such as brown rice and protein in the form of beans.

some people can't process the amount of animal protein they are eating so atkins might not be good for you. you could probably eat unlimited fruits and veggies and lose weight. hold off of the process foods like processed carbs. good luck

Research has shown people following a typical vegetarian diet consume, on average, around 500 fewer calories daily than their meat-eating counterparts. Interestingly, the research showed that they actually ate more food than non-vegetarians.

This can be attributed to the fact that vegetarians' diets are comprised mainly of complex carbohydrates. Complex carbohydrates are starchy, fiber-rich foods, and are naturally low in fat. Examples of complex carbs are legumes and other vegetables and grains.
Try substitutes, like soy meat and soy milk like Silk or eigth continent. Also eat alot of fruits and vegetables.

eat more vegetables, fewer snack items (chips, candy, soda, etc). Drink more water. Get some form of exercise daily, be it walking, swimming, lifting weights, or other.

It's the exercise that's key though- that will help you to lose weight faster than any crash diet or diet powder.

Is your weight too tight??
LOOSE is the opposite of TIGHT.
YOU DON'T NEED TO "LOOSE" ANYTHING.
LEARN TO SPELL. The word you want is spelled L-O-S-E.

Eat less, exercise more.
Period.
