No, amoxicillin is not used to treat either of those.

The mainstay of treatment is the appropriate use of antibiotics. An increase in antibiotic resistance has led to the decline in use of penicillin for treating gonorrhoea. Nowadays, a third generation cephalosporin such as ceftriaxone is recommended for treating gonorrhoea.

Doctors usually prescribe a single dose of one of the following antibiotics to treat gonorrhoea:

* Cefixime 400 mg orally in a single dose, or
* Ceftriaxone 125 mg intramuscular injection in a single dose, or
* Ciprofloxacin 500 mg orally in a single dose, or
* Ofloxacin 400 mg orally in a single dose, or
* Levofloxacin 250 mg orally in a single dose

As co-infection with chlamydia is common, doctors often prescribe a combination of antibiotics, such as ceftriaxone and doxycycline or azithromycin, which will treat both diseases.

RE:
Can amoxicillin cure gonorrhea and chlamydia?

Amoxicillan would not be a good choice for either of those STDs as they would be resistant to it. Ususally azithromycin (Zithromax), 1 gram single dose, in combination with a cephalosporin, is the standard protocol. Different doctors will use different antibitoics however, particulary if you have an allergy to some particular antibiotics. The good news however is that, properly treated, you should be 100% cured of both gonorrhea and chlymydia within one week.

Please see the webpages for more details on Gonorrhea and Chlamudia.
Instead of the standard penicillin treatment, gonorrhea is now treated by a large number of new and very potent antibiotics. More recently, resistance to antibiotics such as ciprofloxacin, ofloxacin (or levofloxacin) and enoxacin has started to become a problem.
The mainstay of therapy for chlamydia includes appropriate antibiotic treatment -- these include: tetracyclines, azithromycin or erythromycin.

No...both of the medications require different medications..You must first be correctly diagnosed then the physician needs to give you the correct medications. Don't take left over medications for illness you have self diagnosed because you could cause yourself harm by not treating correctly, having a reaction to the medication from having taken them before, and or become immune by taking this medication when not necessary therefore when you need that medication is will not take care of the infection.

Fast Acting Guaranteed Herpes Treatment.

Cold sores are caused by the herpes virus. Many of us already have the cold sore virus dormant in our bodies, and never have a flare up of cold sores. We contracted it as children, as it is a very common virus, and children pick it up easily as they often share food and drinks, and may be less concerned about hand washing and hygiene. Cold sores can be transmitted even when the person does not have a cold sore, though it is less likely to happen then.
