I LOVE green tea ice cream. The taste is not over powering and it's not too sweet either. You can pick up some really nice brands, but some of the best I've tried is Island Farms Green Tea Ice Cream... good price, good flavor. That may be only available in BC though. I've also made it before, and I'll add a link to a great website for it.
Cheers!!

I've tried lots of pre-mades, but this is the best, I think! I start with Costco's Kirkland brand Super Premium Vanilla Ice Cream. Soften and put in to Cuisinart or blender and sprinkle with Green Tea Powder (maccha) and blend! I used about 3 tsp for 1/2 gallon, but that can be adjusted to taste. Return to freezer to firm. It's fabulous, creamy and is better than any I've purchased pre-made!

Is green tea ice cream good?

I loved it. I had green tea mochi for dessert, which is an ice cream ball inside of a thick rice starch "skin." The mochi skin was green too. The entire thing is rolled in some flavorless powder, maybe rice powder? The skin, which allows you to eat the ice cream ball with your fingers, was smooth and chewy. The ice cream inside was creamy and good, and the tea flavor was subtle. It was lovely, try it.

Oh yeah, Trader Joe's also sells green tea mochi.

I love it, even my 3 yr old loves it! But I think it depends on where & the brand. There is an ice cream brand (Maeda) & their
green tea ice cream is awful. Sometimes there is a bad aftertaste but if you can find a place that makes it well, the taste is great. It's a mild & subtle flavor, extremely refreshing!

Green tea ice cream is a very subtle flavor, good but not great.

It can be good depending upon the grade of ice cream. I have tasted it in Asian resaurants where it was delightful; and at other times freezer burn got to it! Yeck! If you get a little scoop, you are better off than eating three.

I didn't care for it, from the sample I tasted. But I loved this Green tea and Blackberry drink I got from Starbucks. That was yummy.
