I have had it for about 6 weeks, and I am still very sick. The AHI went from 44 down to around 8-10 so I am "much better". How come I am still very sick all day long?

Since you have had your machine for about six weeks, these are the things you should be looking for:
1) Do you feel better rested/less sleepy during the day?
2) Do you wake up at night gasping for air or feeling like you are choking?
3) Are you still snoring?

If you feel better rested, your CPAP is working. If you still feel a little tired, your CPAP pressure may need to be increased. If you are waking up at night gasping or choking, your pressure probably needs to be increased as your CPAP is not controlling your apnea. If you are still snoring, you also probably need your pressure increased.

If what you mean by "I am still very sick" is that you are congested and feel like you might have a sinus infection, then you probably need a nasal spray to use at night before you put the CPAP on.

You don't say why you have to use a CPAP machine. Your illness may be of a nature that heals very slowly. Please consult your doctor with your questions. Since nobody on this site is familiar with your illness, we simply cannot answer you in a helpful manner. I sincerely hope you feel better soon.

I am assuming you are using the CPAP for sleep apnea...

I would suggest you ask your doctor this question. Apneas can be very serious as they rob your brain of oxygen.
