I depends on what kind of HPV the person has. I have read there are any where from 30 to 100 different kinds of HPV. Most don't do anything and show no symptoms, that is why it is spread so easily.
Some skin warts, like hand and feet warts, caused by HPV can be spread by casual skin to skin contact.
Other kinds of HPV, like the ones that cause genital warts and cervical cancer are typically transmitted through sexual contact.

there are over 80 strains of the HPV virus. a lot of warts found on the body can be from an HPV virus. so it can be spread any way. 70-80 % of people have some form of it. most dont even know when it was contracted because the incubation period can be up to 8 months. another fact, cervical cancer is and STD also because it is caused by HPV.

skin to skin contact...it can go away on it's own...especially if you are male, but if you are female you need to have regular pap smears to test for cervical cancer...it is more common if you have hpv...but it still can go away on it's own...just don't stress...just know that even if you use condoms...you can still pass it own...so stay clean
