I have struggled with my weight my entire life. I am obese. I have recently lost 30 pounds but it's hard for me to lose more weight. Other than my weight, stress is my only risk factor for a heart attack. I recently started working out in an effort my improve my heart's health. I'm not a diabetic; i don't have high cholesterol.

Just wanted an opinion. I haven't been able to find stats about young adults having heart attacks.

Yes, young people can have heart attacks but you have done very very well to loose the weight you have!! You have already lessened the likelyhood of having a cardiac event and also the probability of becoming diabetic. It has been with you your entire life so it is going to take time to shift it away. Keep on going.!!Oh, I see more young males than young females in the cardiac ward..under the age of 30.

It is very rare for a 26 yo female to have a heart attack unless there is something congenital going on. You never said how obese you are, but one good there is you are not diabetic, nor do you have high cholesterol. But I applaud you and don't give up on the weight loss, you will improve your health and your life 100% with the weight off and not to mention, feeling much better about yourself. But in any case a heart attack can affect anyone at any age, just not usually the young. You are on the right track. Good luck.

It is possible, but there have to be more risk factors there than obesity, stress and diabetes.
Diabetes, obesity and high cholesterol are factors that hit starting in the 40's.
The most common risk factor for heart attacks and strokes in the 20's is illicit drug abuse like cocaine.
If you have been losing this much weight and know that your cholesterol and blood sugar are OK, I gather that you would be talking to a doctor. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask other questions of the doctor to help deal with your concerns.

It's unlikely at ur age, but not impossible. (There're cases having occurred at ages like 19 and 21.) But, really unlikely if ur cholesterol is not high. There're some genetic diseases (dyslipidemia, which r essentially, disorders of fat-metabolism and associated with high cholesterol in the blood) which result in heart attacks at early age. But, u don't seem to be suffering from that. Much can't be said about ur obesity, since u've not talked about ur current weight. Don't try to lose too much weight too fast. Remember: it's more important to maintain lost weight than losing it. And by being tense about ur problem u r merely increasing ur risk (stress contributes to these problems in a big way); so, just chill. Try eating fish and nuts (particularly, cashews nd almonds, in very moderate amounts, though). Bye. TC.

You are at a high risk right now. Heart disease and heart attacks do not know age. They can strike anyone at any age and being that you are overweight and under a lot of stress you are increasing that risk. I am not saying that it will happen, but your chances are greater.

Talk to your doctor and ask about excercise and diet programs that will help decrease your weight and stress levels.

Best wishes to you . ;) Keep up the good work.
Yes, losing weight is difficult, but it can be done, it takes patience and it takes persistence.

Yes, you can have a heart attack. Obesity certainly will attribute to it, as it makes your heart work harder. And stress just adds on top of it. Talk to your doctor about what else you can do to lose weight. YES it is hard, a lot of us struggle with it, KEEP working out, you are on the right track. And if you need more help than that, Jenny Craig and Weight Watchers are great places to give you moral support and encouragement, as well as a lot of knowledge on how to continue in your weight loss efforts!

GOOD luck to you and stick with it!!

It's possible but very unlikely at 26.Your in the right direction by being concerned and doing something about it.I've heard alot about a juice or liquid diet for 21 days.It not only detoxifies your body of impurities but after you lose weight it's kinda like a reset button for your body. So you don't regain the weight.
