most peoples opinion of vegetarian commonly means a diet consisting mainy of plants, allowing eggs, milk, geletin, and other animal products to be eaten, but just not the meat itself... fillets, steaks, hamburgers, etc...
however as a vegetarian (not vegan) you are allowed to eat anything you want... as long as the majority of what you eat is plant derived...
vegan is a different story...

My daughter is a vegetarian. She eats for breakfast, applesauce with raisens, chocolate milk, 1/2 melon, or a banana and apple or sometimes grapes. For lunch she has a large green salad with a lot of different greens, two hard boiled eggs, raisens on the salad, carrots, cherry tomatoes, cukes, and she has a cup of peanuts for protein. For supper she either has the salad, or she has yogurt with raisens and peanuts in it, any type of fruit and a lot of it. Either she drinks milk or she has flavored water. She drinks at least 8-10 12 oz glasses of water a day. About once or twice a month she has vegetable lasagna or stuffed shells with tomato and basil sauce. She also makes herself a vegetable soup with chicken stock and rice and beans. When she became a vegie she was 5 ft and weighed 155 lb. She is now 104 lbs. It took her a year to loose the weight. She had some medical problems and this is what spurred her to go vegetarian. She looks terrific and runs 5 miles a day and works out at the gym at least 3 times a week. She is 20.

Seems like people often don't realize that vegetarian means vegetables. Often, as I see reflected in past answers, people think that eating fish can be allowed if following a "vegetarian" diet. It is offensive to fish to think the are vegetables. You need to think about why you are considering this diet though-Ethical or dietary reasons. If just dietary I would suggest eating fish once or twice a week and eggs about the same. Don't worry about getting enough protein without consuming animals-our bodies aren't even really built to eat flesh like they were thousands of years ago. Check out

it is a search of almost any food in any form and the nutrient composition.

That would be totally up to you
some vegetarians will eat fish and eggs and dairy and chicken just not red meat
some will not eat any product made from any aminals at all
let you be the judge of what you want and what not to eat

If you are strict no meats of any kind including eggs. Eggs will help you get some extra protein though. You are allowed all dairy products.
