I am a Vegetarian, and have been for about a year. I would say that both have the potential to be very very healthy, but what many people don't understand is that you have to have alternate sources of protein and other things once you stop getting all your protein from meat. I think that being a Vegetarian is the easier choice, and if you would like to stop eating meat, remember to ease into it. You can't just stop eating meat one day and never eat it again. Vegans don't eat anything that goes through animals: no eggs, milk, cheese, yogurt, meat; and they generally don't eat many processed foods either, in my experience. The only things that you can't eat if you become a Vegetarian are meat/poultry products. If you decide to be a Vegetarian or a Vegan, I highly suggest you start drinking almond or soy milk a lot, as an alternate source of protein; and, to help the cravings for chicken or a burger (you will get them,) Boca has a line of veggie/soy burgers.

From the Vegetarian Society UK.....
"A vegetarian is someone who does not eat meat, fish, poultry or any slaughterhouse by-product such as gelatine. Vegetarians live on a diet of grains, pulses, nuts, seeds, vegetables and fruit, with or without free-range eggs, milk and milk products. Vegetarians not eating anything containing dairy products or eggs are called vegans."
Vegans also do not eat honey or wear leather or silk....

Real vegetarians don't eat fish or other meats. They will eat dairy. A few will justify eggs but others won't have them at all.
Vegans will not have anything that is a product of animals. No eggs, milk, cheese, or even products that use rennet or similar things.
There are some even nuttier vegans who won't eat cooked plants.
