why do they call it soy sauce...?

where does this name originate and why call it soy sauce... especially when soy is very little in its list of ingredients...

it's a sauce made from the fermenting of soy beans in salt and water. So after the process, the whole content would be made up with a majority or liquid and salt rather than the bean itself.

You must be in America if 'soy' is very low on the list of ingredients in your soy sauce!!! You should know that a lot of American companies sell fake soy sauce, it's ultra quick and cheap to produce, meaning that they can undercut the genuine competition and still make a huge profit!! They only add a little 'soy' extract so that they can put 'soy' on the ingredients list! (It would be TOO obvious that it was fake if there was no soy at all!!!)

Anyway, as others have already said, TRUE soy sauce is made from soy beans. The name 'soy sauce' is the English word for it though, here in Japan it's called shoyu, I have no idea what the Chinese call it though..!
